Pre-Workout Mistake

Yesterday, Mike and I woke up ready to hit the gym. Since it was a holiday I got to go with him and workout on the best equipment EVER!

I got there and felt like I was going to die! I thought maybe Sunday had been to relaxing and I just couldn't get moving again.

Mike asked how I was doing and I told him how I was feeling. I just couldn't hardly run at all! He asked me what I ate and then it all dawned on me!

"Nothing"

"That's it" he said, "you have to eat before you come!"

Rookie mistake, I know, but I have to tell you that it really does make such a difference when I've eaten! It's night and day!

So what should you be eating? I have a meal plan that I stick to but BuildLean.com gives us some good ideas:

  • Oatmeal with Whey Protein Mixed In (great if you have a sensitive stomach)
  • 2 Whole Eggs, 2 Egg Whites, Peppers, Onions, Low fat Cheese, Grapefruit/Oatmeal
  • Turkey Wrap with veggies (add carbs as needed)
  • 6 Ounces Grilled Chicken with yam and asparagus
  • …and don’t forget to drink plenty of water! A good 16+ ounces can help you optimize your performance.

You can see that these vary depending on what time of the day you plan to work out. early morning, after the kids are gone, afternoon, or after dinner.

SkinnyMuscles.com gave us this which is nice if you haven't eaten in 3+ hours and need a snack before hitting the gym.

Always make sure you're eating something healthy and energy packed before the gym. It's made a huge difference in how i feel while working out!
