So people are different and that's ayOK! but REALLY, how different are we.

Today I learned one of the most interesting things I've ever heard. Are you ready???

Genetically there are only 4 races.... I know right?
Want to know what they are??

  1. European
  2. Asian
  3. African
  4. Native
I just found that to be incredibly interesting. We always find these divisions between people to separate for various reasons. but do you want to know something else cool??
(insert cliche picture about race)

Most variation is within, not between, "races." Of the small amount of total human variation, 85% exists within any local population, be they Italians, Kurds, Koreans or Cherokees. About 94% can be found within any continent. That means two random Koreans may be as genetically different as a Korean and an Italian. (source)

So someone I look at that I view as different because we look so different, speak a different language, or come from another continent may be just as similar to me as my husband, friend, or neighbor is.

That's powerful! I feel like I can look at people with a different view knowing that simple fact. You and me, we're not so different after all.
