Fertility Update - December 2015

We've been working with a new doctor now that we're living in Kaysville.

We **LOVE** this doctor.

He's been really great to work through all of our concerns and questions. Most of all, when we got to him, after all of our other doctors, we had a mess of suggestions and diagnosis that were not really making a ton of sense. We were confused and ready to give up! (seriously, I was so close to getting on the pill or moving to condoms -- not the best for getting pregnant)

He threw everything out the window and I think it was the best thing possible. We hit the testing really hard and didn't rely on any past information. **It 100% worked!** We've finally found an answer for the miscarriages! This was a huge healing bit for us. We have an answer and even BETTER? We have a treatment.

So for the reason... an egg grows in your ovary and is released at the time of ovulation. This little egg carries a nutrient supply with it. This supply is supposed to feed the egg and sperm as they grow together. At 12 weeks, the placenta takes over and that's why you're usually "out of the woods" for a miscarriage. My eggs are not releasing so I'm ovulating late. This means that the eggs have consumed a lot of their nutrient supply and don't have enough to make it to 12 weeks.

And now the solution.... we're pumping me full of hormones to make sure my body is all primed up. Then we do femara (similar to clomid) to ensure my eggs grow at the right timing. At day 14 we check their growth and then around then, we "trigger" with HCG. This pushes ovulation and ensures that I'll ovulate in about 36 hours. Following ovulation, we pump me with some more hormones and meds and then hope for the best!

We did this for the first time in November and it was really stressful. Hoping that this new solution worked was painfully slow. However, we went in about a week ago and were so excited to see a big beautiful egg ready to go!

It's refreshing to have more *HOPE* in our lives. This might not be our answer but we love feeling like something is successful. If it doesn't work, we keep trying, keep pushing for our little family.

We are SO thankful for our wonderful doctor and the modern medicine we've been blessed with using. Now it's a matter of lining up everything else. We're so hopeful that this is the solution that's going to bring us our baby.
